Accessibility statement
Last reviewed: 27 October 2026
We want everyone to be able to check a vehicle's MOT history on advisories.co.uk, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we've done
- Everything can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible highlight showing where you are.
- Buttons and controls have clear names for screen readers, including icon-only buttons.
- When results load, a short summary is read out: the MOT status, any outstanding recall and the number of tests.
- Expandable sections, such as each MOT test and the FAQs, tell screen readers whether they're open or closed.
- Statuses are shown with words or symbols as well as colour, so they don't rely on telling red from green.
- Text colours have been checked against their backgrounds for readable contrast.
- Buttons meet the recommended minimum size for tapping on a phone.
Known limitations
The site has been checked with automated accessibility testing tools. It has not yet been independently audited or fully tested with every screen reader, so some problems may remain.
The MOT information itself comes from the DVSA exactly as recorded at each test centre, including its abbreviations and wording, which we can't change.
Tell us about a problem
If something on the site is difficult to use, please email accessibility@advisories.co.uk.
It helps if you can tell us what you were trying to do, what went wrong, and which device, browser or assistive technology you were using.
